Healthy Eating

We believe that offering the right choice in a child’s Early Years will encourage healthy eating and healthy lifestyles throughout their lives.

At Petit Enfant we offer a variety of dishes to cater for every individual Child’s requirements.

Our menus are designed with the children and ensure that each meal is balanced.  Depending on the session attended children will enjoy a morning snack, a 2 course Hot Lunch and a 2 course High Tea, as well as Milk or Water throughout the day.  Meals are chopped or pureed to suit individual children and children are encouraged to use knives, forks and spoons.

Children in all rooms are encouraged to develop independence.  Babies enjoy one to one time with their key person during meals, whilst our toddlers begin using their forks and spoons.  Our older children help to lay the table and assist with pouring drinks.

Staff sit with the children at meal times to make it a sociable event and to role model good table manners.

Seasonal meals prepared on site

Our menus make the most of seasonal produce.  The cooks work on site in well equipped kitchens. All meals reflect seasonal local produce and are prepared daily from ingredients selected for their freshness and quality. We know each ingredient that is in our meals ensuring that no added salt, pepper, colouring, artificial flavours and additives are present.
We are able to accommodate special dietary needs such as allergies, intolerance, and cultural needs. Your child’s Key Person will always be available to talk to you to ensure that your child’s dietary requirements are being met.

Involving the Children

At each setting we have a vegetable patch.  The children take enormous pride in tending the vegetables and harvesting them to create their own snacks and meals as part of the curriculum.
